Review: Archos 705 WiFi 160GB

Review: Archos 705 WiFi 160GB
The massive 7-inch touch-screen on Archos’ 705 WiFi makes it far less portable than the other media players we’ve seen, unless cargo pants or overalls are still an integral part of your wardrobe. But if you’re down to lug this monster around, you’ll reap both its big-screen benefits and deftly implemented wireless functionality. Download new movies from CinemaNow from a Wi-Fi hotspot, or connect to any network to stream or download files directly to the player. The optional web plug-in ($30) gives access to an optimized Opera browser, complete with integrated YouTube support for flawless full-screen web flicks. —Carlos Bergfeld WIRED Has kickstand and front-mounted stereo speakers. CES Unveiled: NRG Dock

CES Unveiled: NRG Dock
Another innovative product I saw at CES Unveiled was the NRG Dock. Gadget docks were a popular present this holiday season, but the NRG Dock takes the idea one step further. You place it near a window and the solar panels will charge your iPod, Blackberry or Nintendo DS. You do not need to plug it in. You can keep all of your gadgets charged with the power of the sun. Unfortunately, the photos from the event were unusable, so all I have are the pictures from their brochure and website. These pictures really don’t do it justice. This is a tasteful dock to store your gadgets, wallet and other pocket items. The solar panel has four suction cups (which are not shown in these photos) so you can attach it to a southern-facing window. (Read the full post about ‘CES Unveiled: NRG Dock’…)

SanDisk ups the storage for microSDHC with a new 12GB card
SanDisk has introduced a new, larger microSDHC card in a 12GB size. These new cards are not yet set to hit the market but instead are currently being sent to phone manufacturers for testing and evaluation. Its always nice when a new product is announced that it will be available or even have a set release date, but its still nice to know they are in the works. As you would guess, there was not any mention of pricing either. According to SanDisk, most people are not even aware of the available microSDHC card slots on their phones and have since created a new campaign to help change that. You can find some more information at Wake Up Your Phone. (Read the full post about ‘SanDisk ups the storage for microSDHC with a new 12GB card’…)

Turn your IR remote control into a radio based one

Written by admin on Sunday, January 13th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Turn your IR remote control into a radio based one
Remote controllers, while very handy, have one flaw - they are intended for use only with one device, and have a limited operating range. They operate via infrared rays, so you must point it directly at your device, and be assured that nothing is in the way. If you think that this problem is still unsolved you are wrong. There are remotes that are based not only on IR, but also on radio waves. Radio waves are more suitable if the problem of range exists, because their range depends only on power of remote’s transmitter. However, what if you already have IR remote control but want to make it long ranged? Then this gadget will help! Remote Control Converter contains two main parts.
