Go Ahead…Make My Breakfast! Insert Your Joke Here [Tasty]

Go Ahead…Make My Breakfast! Insert Your Joke Here [Tasty]
When it comes to these gun shaped egg molds, other acceptable headlines include: •”Say hello to my little chicken!” •A great source of Omega-357 and Anti-Uzidents. •Gun shaped eggs promote fowl play. •This is your brain. This is your brain shaped like an uzi. •Shot in the yolk, and you’re to blame. you give breakfast a bad name. •Nothing says “I love you honey” like a gun in the mouth. •Make one false move and i’ll scramble your eggs. •That’s what I call “insani-tasty.” Got something better? I hope so —because these are horrible. So bring it on. [Product Page via Spluch via Laughing Squid] Tags: mobile phone, AAC, Gadget, Ogg Vorbis (Read the full post about ‘Go Ahead…Make My Breakfast! Adobe Brings Back Photoshop Elements for Mac [It’s Choppin’ Time]
The good news: the promise that Photoshop Elements would come back to Mac (after skipping version 5) has been kept—just in time for Macworld 2008, a $90 version of the Intel-native PSE is up for pre-order. I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 these days, but couldn’t be happier about this. Remember that trick I told you about, where you take two group photos and select the bits you like from both to get one really good shot? PSE only. And how about batch editing? Pop quiz: Which app is easier to use if you’re resizing and tweaking brightness on 12 image files? Yep, the cheap one. The link will give you the goods on the new PSE, which is careful not to go after iPhoto on the organizational side. Concealed Weapon Detector to be Deployed in the U.S?

Concealed Weapon Detector to be Deployed in the U.S?
I’ve seen the concept on TV a couple of years ago, but apparently, the U.S government is purchasing twelve concealed weapons detectors from QinetiQ. This particular one seems to be based on microwaves that detect things that are denser than human flesh and clothes, but I have not seen the detailed specs (more information on QinetiQ’s site). There is also competing system that works by recognizing the magnetic signature of weapons logged in a database. Canada Ditches ‘iPod Tax’

Canada Ditches ‘iPod Tax’
Our Canadian friends can go back to gloating about the recent currency surge, now that a federal court there has defeated a proposal that would gave slapped sizable fees on every media player and piece of flash media sold there. The Copyright Board of Canada, which tacks a small fee onto sales of blank media to allegedly compensate recording artists, had sought to expand application of the fee at usurious rates. Memory cards of 1GB to 4GB would have been hit with a C$5 fee, while a 30GB media player would have been penalized C$75. The Federal Court of Appeal ruled that the Copyright Board had exceeded its authority in trying collect such fees. Penryn beginning to pop up in Lenovo’s X61 ThinkPads
Posted Jan 14th 2008 11:26AM by Paul MillerFiled under: LaptopsWhile we’re short on formal announcements, various retailers are displaying Lenovo ThinkPad X61 wares with Intel’s latest chips inside. A Penryn T8100-powered X61 is on MacMall with 1GB of RAM and a 120GB HDD for $1,550, while a T8300 version goes for $1,610. Specs are otherwise the same as existing ThinkPads, and no tablet version is offered. It’s starting to feel like laptop manufacturers are stringing us along here, instead of offering next-gen laptops to match Intel’s next-gen chips, but it’s still early in the game, and maybe we’re just paranoid. In other news, Lenovo has begun delivering SUSE Linux-based ThinkPad R61 and T61 (Read the full post about ‘Penryn beginning to pop up in Lenovo’s X61 ThinkPads’…)

DMCA Used To Try And Silence Movie Reviewer

DMCA Used To Try And Silence Movie Reviewer
BJ and Julia Davis, director and screenwriter of deathless cinematic masterpiece Forget About It, are attempting to silence Gregory Conley’s negative review with a Mardi Gras of meaningless claims, such as "bashing our actors" and the classic "linking to our websites without authorization." Such missives typically read as if they were written with crayola on a napkin, and this one doesn’t disappoint: "As we understand, the administrator of this website is acting on behalf of the group of recently-convicted individuals, in order to undermine the commercial potential of the feature film “Forget About It”… (Read the full post about ‘DMCA Used To Try And Silence Movie Reviewer’…)

Beautiful Drum Sequencer Design Has Balls [BeatBearing]

Beautiful Drum Sequencer Design Has Balls [BeatBearing]
Experimenting with how musicians physically interact with electronic kit is not new but this design for a drum sequencer interface by doctoral student Peter Bennett is just awesome. It’s simple too: each drum effect has a track on BeatBearing’s plastic screen, and by dropping a ball bearing into a hole you activate that track’s effect as a scanning light beam encounters it. When you watch a video of it in action, moving the bearings around in real time is like a kind of weird drum ballet: BeatBearing currently only has 4 tracks, so highly complex sequences aren’t really possible. But we do wonder what would happen, flying-ball-bearingly-speaking if you really turned the speed up. Hurray: Rainbow of Nintendo Wii Colors Finally on the Way? [Color Me Awesome]
This is a location print-up from the only classy big-box store, Target. Before Christmas, if an employee scanned a Wii, it’d just say “Wii Console.” Now, it says “Wii White.” Giddy fanboy deduction: Why go through the trouble of adding an additional color descriptor unless other colors were on the way? While it’s not exactly the good-word gospel straight from Reggie’s mouth, if I could buy a black Wii in time for Smash Bros. Brawl, I would be so happy. Yes, I’ve waited to buy a Wii until it comes black. Yes, I know, I have a problem. (Read the full post about ‘Hurray: Rainbow of Nintendo Wii Colors Finally on the Way? [Color Me Awesome]’…)
