Colour Phasing Light Speakers

Written by admin on Friday, January 18th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Colour Phasing Light Speakers
Colour Phasing Light Speakers With over 200 colour combinations, these ice-cool-looking Light Speakers are clearly a cut above the rest. Optically enhanced LED light cones ensure that the light display isn’t just dazzling at night, but looks great in daylight too. You can choose from a sound-activated audio beat mode with three distinct lighting patterns, ‘Snake’, ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Random’, that flash and phase to your music, or pick a seductive static colour - a lot less funky, but considerably calmer. The two 5W PMPO quality speakers are made from high grade polycarbonate, and look like balls of glass. (Read the full post about ‘Colour Phasing Light Speakers’…)

LED lighting that can be flattened

LED lighting that can be flattened
Check out these lighting fixtures that are extremely minimal in nature, and was specially designed to be shipped flat like a postcard. They are actually a laser-cut sheet of aluminum complete with an integrated LED illumination source that is powered by a single button battery, certainly not something you can find at any home improvement store nearby. Designed by Dutch designer Sander Mulder, the Eureka Lamp as it is known can be mailed in an envelope. Too bad this is but a prototype concept at time of publishing - it would certainly be nice to see it being fleshed out at a factory somewhere in this world. Paper Airplane Launched From Space Will Hit Mach 7

Paper Airplane Launched From Space Will Hit Mach 7
We knew that the Japanese wouldn’t bother with boring old sensible experiments on the International Space Station. But commissioning a paper plane and launching it from space? Damn! The 3.1 inch plane is in testing right now, and has been designed by the Japan Origami Airplane Association. According to Pink Tentacle, it is shaped like the space shuttle and will be able to stand up to the huge wind-buffeting of re-entry at Mach 7, or around 5300 mph. The temperatures of re-entering the atmosphere shouldn’t cause any trouble, though, as even these speeds are a lot lower than that of a Space Shuttle re-entry: Mach 20. Why? Who cares? We can’t wait to see this on YouTube. Origami spaceplane to launch from space st (Read the full post about ‘Paper Airplane Launched From Space Will Hit Mach 7′…)

Coolest Gagdet of CES Was and the $50 Winner Is…
We asked you to vote on what you thought the coolest gadget of CES 2008 was. Well the votes have been counted and I’m pleased to announce….. somebody cheated! The FPS Gaming Vest had a commanding lead but out of nowhere the Computerized Chopper starting getting a load of votes. After checking logs, IP addresses and what not, we’ve got to discount at least 200 votes for the chopper, so the official Coolest Gadgets coolest gadget of CES 2008 is the FPS Gaming Vest, which just shows that we’re a bunch of masochists that like being punched when playing games. Surprisingly we only had 10 comments on the post, one of which will win the $50 Amazon voucher and according to random.org the winner is….. Toshiba gets official with Portege G910, G710 and G450 phones
Posted Jan 18th 2008 12:41PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Cellphones We already caught sight of shiny little number pictured above these thanks to the generous folks at the FCC, but Toshiba’s just now gotten official with it, along with two other slightly less familiar models. That one above is the Portege G910, a follow-up to the company’s G900, which packs a 3-inch WVGA display, a 2 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6 and tri-band 900/1800/1900 GSM/EDGE support, in addition to 2100 HSDPA. If that’s not your thing, you can also look forward to the Blackberry-esque G710 (pictured after the break), which boasts GPS but no 3G, and the rather, um, unique-looking G450 “modem phone” (also after the break), which boasts 3G but no GPS (among other differences). iPhone speaker too quiet? Stab it with needles
Posted Jan 18th 2008 11:31AM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: Cellphones If you’re like us, you feel more than a little annoyed with iPhone’s speaker volume. Yes, whether you’re waiting for a call, trying to have a speakerphone conversation, or just listening for sweet DTMF tones — the thing kind of stinks. Perhaps it’s time to take extreme measures, as some owners have resorted to… like sticking a needle through the holes in the speaker enclosure. Yes, according to daring “modders,” it’s possible to get a 40-percent increase in volume via this simple-yet-destructive trick of perforating the thin plastic which covers the speaker. Apparently, the phone gets so loud post-surgery that the volume is actually startling to some users. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone speaker too quiet? Stab it with needles’…)

AT&T; your new private Big Brother

AT&T; your new private Big Brother
AT&T has proposed a new stunning new concept in user monitoring. Essentially, the telecom giant is planning to set up huge filters to look for illegal copywrited material. “Ultimately, our customers and their online experience come first. This is not about the vast majority of customers who consume content online legally. This is about combating illegal activity.” –Michael Balmoris, spokesman, AT&T This is a huge error on AT&T’s part. Certainly, there will be some legitimate material that is going to significantly slowed or blocked by such a filtering plan. I can only imagine the massive amounts of customer complaints that AT&T call centers will receive after such a plan is implemented. (Read the full post about ‘AT&T; your new private Big Brother’…)

Fujitsu’s LifeBook P1620 is lighter than (MacBook) Air
Posted Jan 18th 2008 6:07AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Handhelds, Laptops, Tablet PCs Fujitsu’s P1620 was just announced with a Stateside price starting at $1,599. This quicker update to the highly praised P1610 boasts a new ULV 1.2GHz U7600 Core 2 Duo processor with up to 2GB of memory and 100GB of disk — a respectable bump from the old 1.2GHz Core Solo and 1GB memory and 80GB disk limit. The rest of the specs appear unchanged which is fine by us: 8.9-inch 1,280 x 768 display, a $299 32GB SSD option, and standard 3-cell battery (6-cell for a worthy $45) which delivers 3.5-hours under real-world stress. Ripple-Mini PC Packs an Awful Lot of Computing into $132 [PCs]
Those Koreans sure do get spoilt on the technology front; check out Ripple’s Ripple-Mini PC, for example. The device, which will retail for a shockingly low €90 ($132), will pack in an Intel Celeron M215 (1.33GHz), 1GB RAM, SiS 662 North Bridge and SiS 964L South Bridge, all in a dinky 20×300x220mm, Mac mini-esque case. Hit the gallery for some more shots.galleryPost(’rippleminigi’, 3, ”); We just cannot get over the price of this machine. Sure, it may be far off from an 8-core super beast, but given the spec, it is firmly in Everex’s gPC territory. Given the price, it is firmly in a class of its own.
