The unsecured Asus Eee PC, able to be rooted from the box
We have seen plenty of good news coming from the Eee PC corner, but until now for the most part its all been favorable, Rise Security is now showing a less secure side of everyones favorite ultra-portable. They have found an issue with the version of Samba that is on the Eee PC. Taking a pre-built exploit they have found that they are easily able to root the system. While its not something that should be terribly worry some to most Eee PC owners, it is still something to take concern over. It will be interesting to see if we are going to see an update coming from Asus, until now the default OS on the Eee still has not had any updates, security or otherwise. Facebook now in Spanish
For the first time since its launch, controversial social networking site Facebook is now befriending non-English users with the launch of its own Spanish language version. Kick off is on Monday. Facebook users situated in Spanish-speaking countries will view the site in their native tongue. In case you prefer Spanish, visit your account page, click on the “language” tab, and set it to be Español. Today, more than 2.4 million active users are living in Spain and Latin America. By breaking the language barrier, it can attract new users and convert users of other social networks in Spanish version such as MySpace, hi5 and Orkut. This is just the beginning of the company’s expansion to international territories. (Read the full post about ‘Facebook now in Spanish’…)

Casio G-ShockMRG-8000G Shocks With a High-End Ultra-Limited Watch
To celebrate G-Shock’s Silver anniversary, Casio released a special ultra-limited edition watch. When I say limited edition, I meant 200 pieces limited edition. The severely limited number of manufactured G-Shock MRG-8000G watches allows Casio to sell this luxe timepiece for a whopping 2,400. The metal elements of the MRG-8000G have a gold-plated finish; the face itself boasting a titanium bezel. Good thing the MRG-8000G is a limited edition, and hence, is slated to become a collector’s item. In my opinion, aside from the fact that it comes with an 18 carat ring, there’s not much reason why you’d choose this over a Rolex of the same price if it’s sold normally in the market. Lenovo’s ThinkPad X300 laptop now confirmed
While we still are yet to see an official announcement from Lenovo, the X300 ThinkPad has now been confirmed. The X300 features an LED backlit 13.3-inch display, 2.0GHz Santa Rosa Dual Core processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD and running Windows XP Pro. Meizu M8 now on sale? Doubtful.

Meizu M8 now on sale? Doubtful.
Posted Feb 9th 2008 1:58PM by Chris ZieglerFiled under: Cellphones, Handhelds Given the sheer bulk of press Meizu’s M8 has received over the course of its young, controversial life, it’d seem likely that even the slightest trickle of units onto Chinese store shelves would lead to unboxing shots, videos, and reviews within hours, wouldn’t it? Reports are starting to flow across the ‘nets that M8s are now being made available through several of Meizu’s suppliers, but without a single in-the-wild picture of a fully functional, final spec unit — from Meizu, much less a paying customer — we’re not buying it. USB Phonebook Flash Drive
The worst part of losing a cellphone, is also losing all the contacts saved on the SIM card. To solve that situation, you must do back-ups often, and using the USB Phonebook Flash Drive is one of the options. The working mode is very simple: connect the USB Phonebook to the cellphone, and press a button to save all the data of the phone memory + SIM card, into the flash drive. After the transfer is done, just connect the Phonebook to the USB port of your computer/laptop, and review all your contacts, or convert them to a different format. The USB Phonebook Flash Drive costs $20,50 and there are different versions that work with various cellphone models, such as Nokia 7250i, Sony Ericsson K700i, Samsung E800, and many others. ZAP Alias: An Automobile Missing One Tyre; Faster than a Porsche!
Yep, you read that right. This automobile is missing one tyre, but it can run faster than a fancy Porsche… …granted the car company actually finishes the design. Manufactured by ZAP with the help of the British company, Lotus, this three-wheeled car named “ZAP Alias” can accelerate from rest to 60mph in an astonishing 5.7 seconds. The sports car is powered by two electric wheel motors, located on each of the two wheels at the front (it’s the back that only has one wheel as you can see on the pic) which, together, produces 321.85 horse power and a top speed of 156mph. The same power seen on conventional cars is demonstrated by the Porsche 911 Carrera which costs 60,000. Creative announces price cut on their 32GB Zen
Recently, there have been many price cuts and additions of cool new players, from the Microsoft Zune to Apple’s iPod Touch. A lot of which encourage people to stray away from Apple and Microsoft, most recently Creative has decided to cut prices of their 32GB Zen by about $30 in efforts to boost sales. The price of Apple’s 32GB iPod Touch is $499, albeit comes loaded with a lot of cool features, but for the same storage, the Creative Zen is nice and compact device is now only $299. However, you can’t exactly compare this to the iPod Touch, so if you were to compare this to the iPod nano, for about a $100 more than the $199 price tag of the 8GB model, you get quadruple the storage plus an FM radio. Smartphone growth continues to rise
Canalys have released some interesting research into sales of smartphones during the fourth quarter of 2007. Nokia remains at the top with 52.9% of the market, followed by Blackberry with 11.4% and then a new entry in the top 3 edging out Motorola is the iPhone with 6.5% of the worldwide market. 2007 was a good year for the Smartphone with 115 million shipped which equates to a 60% increase. The largest region by sales is Asia Pacific, where Nokia dominates with 50%, whereas in the USA where Nokia is traditionally weaker the iPhone had an impressive 28% market share.
