Yamake For N-Gage

Written by admin on Thursday, February 14th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Yamake For N-Gage
Nokia wants you to let your creative juices flow with its Yamake for N-Gage that enables gamers to create their own games. Conjuring mini-games involves adding content and with the ability to share and play it with your friends, you will be able to know if you have a future as a game designer or not. The design tools are meant to be easy-to-use so that anyone and everyone can pick it up, but then again if it is so simple, most of the games that are user-generated will most probably be pretty much the same from one to another. The mini games can then be shared with everyone on the N-Gage Arena. (Read the full post about ‘Yamake For N-Gage’…)

Sharp Has New Blue Laser

Written by admin on Thursday, February 14th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Sharp Has New Blue Laser
Sharp recently introduced a new blue laser that maintains the same 3.3mm diameter of its predecessor, although the GH04P25A4G semiconductor laser does feature a power boost to 250mW. This results in 6x recording speeds for dual-layer Blu-ray media that targets laptops while an equally speced 5.6-mm (GH04P25A2G) is available for desktop jocks. Mass production of both lasers will begin this April, although they are already being shipped now. Tags: design, gps, TV, gizmos (Read the full post about ‘Sharp Has New Blue Laser’…)

$20 iPod Touch Upgrade Just Won’t Go Away

$20 iPod Touch Upgrade Just Won’t Go Away
Apple really wants $20 from you, or so it seems. Reports are sweeping the internet that iTunes won’t take no for an answer when it asks you to buy the extra application pack for the ipod Touch. The same thing has happened to me. Clicking the “No Thanks” button takes you to the store anyway, and leaves you there. The iPod is not accesible. It will show up in the right hand source list of iTunes, and can be right-clicked to sync it, but any other management features are disabled. The fix? Disconnect from the internet. If iTunes can’t contact the mothership, it will allow you to use your iPod Touch again. Those with quick mousing skills (or slow internet connections) can click the little x which appears in the iTunes status window and cancel the trip to the store. Rare Nintendo Championships Gold Unpwned by Fred Savage’s Little Brother
For the latest info on the coolest gadgets, emerging technology and wired madness, subscribe to our full news feed or have it delivered to your inbox. Always free. Always unique. Thanks for visiting!  Electronic sports as we know them really got a boost back in the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System. The Nintendo World Championships were based on a monstrosity of a movie called The Wizard, which hopefully you either don’t remember or are too young to remember. The movie just seemed like one long commercial for the Power Glove which came out in the same year. Still, it was a golden time for Nintendo, way back before Sony had ever considered throwing their hat in the gaming console ring and PCs were still fetching as much as a good used car. WooMe.com online speed dating for Valentine’s fun
So it’s Valentine’s Day (insert virtual vomit here). Now, you could spend $60 a month on eHarmony, getting paired with all the people you wouldn’t date, or spend $0 and post a personal ad on craigslist and get about the same result. But, I’m suggesting that you try a new online service, WooMe. WooMe takes a very fun hybrid approach to online dating through virtual speed dating. It’s ridiculously easy to meet people who share your interests, and it’s also a lot of fun. (Read the full post about ‘WooMe.com online speed dating for Valentine’s fun’…)

Hands-on with Nokia’s high-rolling N96

Hands-on with Nokia’s high-rolling N96
Posted Feb 14th 2008 8:14AM by Sean CooperFiled under: cellphones, Features, Handhelds The Nokia N96 is here and while it certainly doesn’t blow the doors off the current N95 in all its many varieties, it does refresh the form, add beauty, and the TV ain’t all that bad to boot. What definitely stands out on the N96 is build quality, the material choices here are not as cheap as they were on its older siblings, it actually looks and feels like a high end device. We also were able to get some TV time in courtesy of some neighbor or another, we’ve enjoyed SlingPlayer Mobile on our devices for a while now, but there is just no comparing them, the DVB-H looks first rate. Dell XPS M1730 with 8800M GTX SLI reviewed — that sucker is fast
Posted Feb 14th 2008 9:02AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Gaming, Laptops As is usually the case when you slap the latest and greatest silicon in a laptop, it’s going to best whatever came before. What’s surprising here is how thoroughly the Dell XPS M1730 with a Core 2 Extreme X9000 processor and dual GeForce 8800M GTX cards in SLI trounces the last generation of tech. The folks at ExtremeTech pitted the laptop against a hapless m9750 from Alienware, sporting the last generation of tech, and it handily bested it in every competition. CPU tests were heavily in the M1730’s favor, and GPU tests even more so. (Read the full post about ‘Dell XPS M1730 with 8800M GTX SLI reviewed — that sucker is fast’…)

Lenovo’s X300 ThinkPad, it may not be thinnest, but its full-featured
Anticipation is getting high when it comes to the latest ThinkPad, the Lenovo X300. Since the release of the macbook air, laptops are seemingly now judged not only based on features and the overall weight, but also how thin they are. While the X300 may not be as thin as the MacBook Air, it does have some goodies that will make up for any small difference in size. The two laptops weigh in pretty close with the X300 coming in at 3.12 pounds and the Air at 3.0 pounds. Both laptops also come with a 13-inch widescreen display and have full sized keyboards, but that is where the similarities go away.
