Samsung Camera With OLED Display

Samsung Camera With OLED Display
Samsung Techwin has some pretty snazzy technology crammed into its VLUU NV24HD digital camera, which is an OLED display as well as HDMI connectivity. I don’t know which is worse - the unpronounceable name or the obviously high price tag that will come with this digital camera. To refresh your memory on how expensive OLED displays are, Sony’s 11″ OLED TV retails for a whopping $2,500 each. Dell adds Penryn to Inspiron laptop lineup

Dell adds Penryn to Inspiron laptop lineup
Posted Feb 20th 2008 1:10PM by Paul MillerFiled under: Laptops Ooh, like we’re so surprised Dell. The ever-popular Inspiron series of laptops is getting Intel’s latest inside, with the Insprion 1720 configurable with up to a T9300 2.5GHz Penryn processor for as low as $1,199, while the Inspiron 1420 does up to a T8300 for as low as $924. Granted you’ll probably want to pair Penryn with more than the base specs (or you might be able to skim some more off those prices if you really work at it), but it’s not hard to nab yourself a well-specced Penryn machine for well under $1,500. Thanko SIRE2SET Silent Keyboard

Thanko SIRE2SET Silent Keyboard
For those who love typing late into the night (or surfing questionable websites), there is the Thanko SIRE2SET silent multimedia keyboard. I guess this is best used with an equally silent mouse that Thanko already has. The SIRE2SET keyboard can be hooked up to two PCs through a couple of separate USB connections, where you use a sliding switch on the keyboard to decide which PC you want to work with. Too bad this is a Japan-only product, retailing for $46. I can forsee folks with two workstations having this - one for them to surf the latest celebrity scandals, switching over to the actual work PC whenever the boss walks by. HP’s new UMPC 2133 hotness to run VIA, not Penryn?

HP’s new UMPC 2133 hotness to run VIA, not Penryn?
Posted Feb 20th 2008 10:19AM by Paul MillerFiled under: Laptops If that new HP Compaq 2133 is hitting your ultraportable sweet spot, there’s more news on that front to drool over. UMPC Portal has word from a supposed industry insider that the computer is not running an Intel chip as previously suggested, but instead will rock the range of VIA processors. That means the computer could fight it out with Eee PC in the low-end with a C7 processor, or adopt one of those upcoming Isaiah chips and duke it out with Penryn ultraportables. Post-format war, which Blu-ray player will you snag?

Post-format war, which Blu-ray player will you snag?
Posted Feb 20th 2008 11:00AM by Darren MurphFiled under: HDTV, Home Entertainment After what seems like ages, the deadlock between hd dvd and Blu-ray has finally been broken, and as you undoubtedly know, high-definition film lovers everywhere are now scrambling to figure out which BD player would suit them best. ‘Course, the easy answer is Sony’s Profile 2.0-capable playstation 3, but if you’ve got a higher-end home theater, things aren’t necessarily that simple — there are some pretty big audio codec issues to keep in mind. Either way, now that it’s safe to commit to one format, why not check out what everybody else is doing and toss in your own vote at Engadget HD’s poll? LG will not follow Toshiba, continues to support HD DVD

LG will not follow Toshiba, continues to support HD DVD
With everyone running from HD DVD and pledging their support to Blu-ray it almost seems strange to see any company still offering any support for HD DVD. LG has made a statement letting us all know they have not given up just yet; “LG believes that at this present moment in time, it is necessary to provide a player which supports both formats and therefore create simplicity and convenience for the existing HD DVD consumer.” “Overall LG is still excited about the future of this market; LG has always set out to lead high definition players and will continue to do so with more technology evolutions and hybrids which will launch in due course.” While its nice to see that the current owners of HD DVD movies will not be left out in the cold, it seems like a market that will not be able to continue for that long. Watch TV on your mobile phone with the PacketVideo Mobile Broadcast Receiver

Do you enjoy watching videos on your mobile phone or other mobile device? I’ve watched a few clips here and there, but I generally try to avoid such strains on my eyes. Honestly, if I’m going to stare at something that small, it’s going to be my DS. However, for those of you that want to watch TV on your mobile phone (without settling for whatever channels your wireless carrier offers) you might be interested in PacketVideo’s Mobile Broadcast Receiver. This little device will take your digital TV signal and converts it into a format that’s usable on a phone. It will come in versions for each of the major mobile broadcast standards such as Tdtv, DVB-H, MediaFLO and WiMAX. Music Light Concept

Written by admin on Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Music Light Concept
The Music Light concept is a light show device that measures certain sound frequencies in order to keep the crowd entertained. This concept takes the action up a notch as it is able to visualize sound by moving light pulses up and down, rippling and shifting colors simultaneously. As for the wearer, it probably won’t affect him/her that much since most people won’t bother staring at their cord, but the benefit targets passers-by more than anybody else. OpenMoko To Launch Second Handset

OpenMoko To Launch Second Handset
OpenMoko will be rolling out its second handset sometime from March to April this year, and hopefully this new open-platform cell phone will be more of a success compared to the Neo. It seems that user interface improvements will be the main focus point, and hopefully the Neo 2 will see new form factors as well. It would be pretty interesting to see the Neo 2 come in different form factors as well, just like how Nokia’s 6500 is marketed in both classic and slider forms.
