Yahoo! OnePlace exciting or will Google copy this too?

Yahoo! OnePlace exciting or will Google copy this too?
Yahoo! announced it’s new OnePlace service that will be live in Q2 of this year.  At it’s basic level, OnePlace allows you to access bookmarks and various links anywhere on any machine or mobile device.  The example Yahoo! uses is a trip you are about to take.  You do research beforehand, noting some places you’d like to check out.  When you arrive at your destination, instead of relying on memory or a new search, you just look up those links you saved and you are good to go. Sure you could send yourself an email of links but…switching back and forth from email to web browser on my Windows mobile phone is painful.  As is the internet but that is another post. Backpacker’s Diary Concept PC

For those of you who have that dream of backpacking through Europe, you might want to take something to blog your experience. The Backpakcer’s Diary is a PC concept that is made to be more durable and flexible, specifically designed for outdoor usage. For example, the user does not have to worry about finding a cord to power this particular device as the Backpacker’s Diary comes with a flexible solar panel. Personally, I didn’t think we were at the point where we could charge our PCs with solar power, because I myself am still addicted to the cord. It also has some other features that would come in handy for portable PC action. (Read the full post about ‘Backpacker’s Diary Concept PC’…)

Asus Eco Book Notebook with a Bamboo Shell
After months of testing (and showing), the Asus eco-book has finally been launched at Cebit. Green is a big cash-cow right now and every company seems to find a way to say that they are somewhat greener. Asus’s argument is that they are using less plastic, thanks to the partial bamboo casing of this Eco Notebook. Asus thinks that Bamboo is the best thing ever, while IBM says “green IT is hype”, what is your take? Bottle Opener Key By Suck UK

Bottle Opener Key By Suck UK
Bottle Opener Key By Suck UK No More Breaking Your Teeth Opening Bottles An award winner no less. Sometimes, very simple is perfect and here is a good example of that. It looks like a front door key but it is in fact a cunningly disguised bottle opener. This can make you look very cool at parties when people think you are using a real key and can’t work out why their shed key doesn’t quite do it. Alcoholics too can conceal their tools of the trade and beer monsters who were once scouts will always be prepared. I’m sure there’s a door it will open too. Mio springboards Moov GPS lineup at CeBIT
Posted Mar 5th 2008 5:02AM by Darren MurphFiled under: GPS Thanks to a little digging at the FCC, we knew good and well Mio had a few Moovs on the way, and it’s really no surprise that it chose CeBIT to make things official. Aside from looking incredibly sexy, the new Moovs all feature MioMore to unearth local gems and points of interests, SiRF GPS chipsets and InstantFixII for acquiring your location in a jiffy. Up first is the Moov 330 Regional (€180; $273) / 330 Europe (€230; $350), which each boast a 4.3-inch display and differ only in the expansiveness of their European maps. Next up is the €280 ($426) Moov 370 Europe, which ups the ante on the previous two by including Bluetooth and traffic information. Alessi Pop-Up Bottle Opener

Alessi Pop-Up Bottle Opener
The Alessi Pop-Up Bottle Opener is one gadget that you can consider having in your home if you happen to host lots of parties. Constructed from stainless steel, all you need to do to open a bottle is to press down this ovoid-shaped object and voila! The cap will be removed, held by a magnet located inside the opener itself while preventing it from flying all over the place. Of course, there are much more affordable bottle openers around, but after forking out $47 for this, I believe you’re going to open a whole lot of bottles in the future just to show it off to friends and family alike.
