Flickr adds video, 90-seconds at at time

Flickr adds video, 90-seconds at at time
Flickr has added video to the ever-popular photo sharing site, albeit with some initial limitations. The videos that are uploaded can be a maximum of 90 seconds and must be 150MB in size or smaller. Videos are also limited to be uploaded only by Pro users, but can be viewed by anyone, as long as the video is marked public, they can also be uploaded and marked as private. Overall Flickr is taking an approach that leaves little difference between the existing photos and new videos, in fact they were noted as being called “long photos.” Which makes sense because the videos are side by side with your photos and while the videos do have their limitations, once you get used to them they seem to be a really nice addition. Nokia’s touchscreen Tube out in the wilds?
Posted Apr 9th 2008 4:07AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: cellphones Like detective work? Good, this one’s for you. That’s the supposed first picture of Nokia’s Tube which we’ve enhanced a bit to see all the detail. According to Symbian-Freak, the device code-named “Tube” will be Nokia’s first touch S60 device but will not be a flagship phone. Another higher spec’d phone will ship “shortly after.” The display is said to be between 3- and 3.5-inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a camera (with another up front based on the picture) which they say is “way better” than the iphone’s but not on par with the existing N-series shooters. The phone is said to ride atop quad-band GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSDPA radios with built-in Bluetooth, WiFi, uPnP support and a stylus. Dell to Join the Eee Wanabees

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Compal computers, a contract manufacturer for Dell said that it has received an order of 200k to 300k units of a “low-cost” notebook to be sold sometimes this year. This confirms that the demand for cheap sub-notebooks is at an all-time high (well, yes, who doesn’t want a cool and cheap sub-notebook?)

Our recent favorite has been the HP 2133 (read first impressions), but who knows what will come up next?

There’s one thing that we know fore sure: the average selling price (ASP) of the sub-notebook is going to plunge. And that’s why many people are afraid the Asus EEE (or the idea of it).

Nokia Tube – Live Photo, Specifications
Pictures of the Nokia Tube have appeared on the web. As expected, it looks like an iphone clone (or Killer, depending how much you love Nokia). The good news is that ‘Tube” is only a code-name (phew). Also, it looks like the device is running Symbian OS (as expected). (Read the full post about ‘Nokia Tube – Live Photo, Specifications’…)

Vitals.com, the Yelp for Doctors
It might not be the most accurate comparison, but that’s how it feels from the outside: now you can review, and most importantly *read*, reviews about doctors. Doctors will also have a login to edit their personal information and communicate with “consumers”. Mission statement“Vitals was created to give consumers the tools — for the first time — to make intelligent, informed decisions about which doctor to choose. EMC Buys Iomega for $213M

EMC Buys Iomega for $213M
It is official: EMC has bought Iomega for $213M. After several attempts, EMC continues its foray in the consumer storage (I’m a big fan of Mozy.com, the online backup service). EMC was a stock market favorite in the late nineties but its stock price never really recovered from the 2000 bust. I guess that EMC, like many others, would like to grab some serious share in the consumer (or small business) market because that is where spending is. Smart and Useful USB Cellphone Charm
The USB Smart Cable is convergence done right. It combines three things: a USB phone charger, a MicroSD card reader and a dangly cellphone charm. And oddly, it’s that last one that makes it so useful – the cord is always attached to your phone. There are three to choose from. One to fit Nokia DC 2.0 sockets, one Mini 18 pin and one for Mini USB devices. The best part? They only cost $9.
