Silver Seal Washable Keyboard

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Silver Seal Washable Keyboard
Silver isn’t only great for killing werewolves and vampires, they’re also good for killing germs. Seal Shield has released a new washable, anti-microbial keyboard that supposedly kills contaminants with its silver ions. Being dishwasher-safe, it is a snap disinfecting your keyboard with scalding hot water and soap if you’re so paranoid about catching the bug from sick colleagues who have used your keyboard before. The Silver Seal washable keyboard retails for $69.99 and is truly a purchase for the paranoid - I don’t think ordinary Tom, Dick and Harrys will be that fearful of catching a bug from the keyboard. Opinion: Technology for technology’s sake

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Something that’s been on my mind since I left TG Daily.com in January has been the focus and direction of technology in our lives. It seems so very clear that we are receiving many technology devices today for the sake of simply making something out of what we have available as a technology resource. So often times the devices we’re handed aren’t the best tool that could’ve been created, it was simply the one that targeted whatever the manufacturer was after when they made it, which is most likely profits and a short-term niche.

Devices like the cell phone, ipod, iPhone, MIDs, and future such multi-purpose devices are the exception.

Your very own Milky Way

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

For the existentialist in your life who has everything, how about the Milky Way galaxy suspended in a glass cube? Supposedly, there are 80,000 stars inside the cube, rendered using three-dimensional data from Japan’s National Astronomical Observatory. In the exact center of the cube is our solar system - a tiny speck, a reminder of how invisible we are in the cosmic scheme of things.

Because it’s a cube, you can view the galaxy from different angles:

Available from Living World for a mere $80,000 JPN (about $770).

Livescribe’s Pulse pen computer

Livescribe’s Pulse pen computer
I recently realized, when writing a letter, that I can now barely write. I’m so used to putting everything into a computer, or a PDA/phone that I can type with my thumbs much more quickly than I can write. I was ashamed and a little frightened and started imagining scenarios when there’s a big Cloverfield-like attack and power outage and I die while thumb-typing and screaming into a dead blackberry. Another problem is that when I do scribble little notes and phone numbers, I forget what they’re about by the time I find them in my purse a few months later. And forget notes from lectures or conferences- I clearly have undiagnosed ADHD because generally all I can make out are bad drawings of big-eyed waifs and mean notes to the lecturer to please stop talking so I can go to the bathroom. Stargate Mirror

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

If you have an appetite for fancy mirrors, then this Stargate Mirror ought to be your cup of tea.

Normally made of Naquahdah (and once unsuccessfully made of titanium) and 22 feet wide, our scientists have used glass and polystone to shrink the dimensions down to a mere 10 inches across. All you need is a Zero Point Module to power it, and you’re good to go. Convenient enough, now, to hang on your wall. When you’re not actively powering the gate to generate a wormhole, you can look at your reflection in the event-horizon.

Each $49.99 purchase comes with a “water-effect” event-horizon insert and is hand painted.

Evolution of Man and TV

Evolution of Man and TV
Check out the comic above - it is a hilarious but true take of the evolution of us homo sapiens and TV - apparently the thinner a TV gets (in addition to cell phones and other hi-tech stuff such as iPods), the fatter we become due to a sedentary lifestyle. Pretty funny, no? Tags: gps, gadgets, computers, Gadget (Read the full post about ‘Evolution of Man and TV’…)

O2 slashing £100 from 8GB iPhone in UK

O2 slashing £100 from 8GB iPhone in UK
by Darren Murph, posted Apr 15th 2008 at 10:30AM The whispers are true, or so it seems. According to Stuff, O2 is getting set to one-up T-Mobile’s price cutting affair in Germany by hacking a full £100 from the 8GB iphone in the UK (bringing it down to £169). Better still, the discount will apply regardless of which contract selection you make, whereas T-Mobile forced users to sign the dotted line on a pricey Complete XL plan. Unfortunately, the lower sticker only applies to the 8GB version — the 16GB model will remain £329 — but anyone who sprung for one of the former iterations within the last month will receive an “Ultimate Price Promise” £100 refund voucher. AutO-Ring

AutO-Ring

How many times do you place your documents in a ring file, only to have them tear away after some time due to the lower paper quality these days? (Come to think about it, virtually everything you buy these days tend not to last as well as our grandpappy’s time) The AutO-Ring helps prevent loose leaves from falling out, ensuring your life is kept in an orderly manner. Keep pages from a scrapbook, cookbook, portfolio or photo album from getting lost or torn with the AutO-Ring! It quickly and easily applies reinforcement adhesives to strengthen or repair punch holes so pages stay put. Makes a great gift for students. Parents can get this for their kids, while bosses ought to pick one up for their secretaries as a $7.95 gift. (Read the full post about ‘AutO-Ring’…)

Diamante Mouse

Introduce some much needed bling to your office desk with the Diamante Mouse. It’s time to jettison that humourless and corporate-grey mouse of yours and get some sparkle onto your desktop. Studded with a panoply of glittering fake diamonds, the Diamante Mouse is a dazzlingly different and sparklingly superior computer mouse for people wanting to be lifted from the drudgery of normal workstations. Unfortunately, these diamonds are all fake although they do boast a rather impressive sparkle. You won’t be able to pawn it for more than £27.99 though.
