Music Mug Portable

Music Mug Portable

Man, nothing gets me up in the morning like my iPod and hot cup of joe. Hey, I’ll bet it would work twice as good if I combine the two…there! Oh man, I really need to get sober, fast. Yes, that does sound stupid, but the photo to the left is not the product of a hangover, but an actual product. This is a designer’s bright idea of an iPod speaker “disguised” as a coffee mug. The Music Mug works on any MP3 player, provided it has a headphone jack. All you need to do is plug the Music Mug’s cable into the MP3 Player, and let the music play. Just don’t try and pour coffee or some other hot beverage into your Music Mug. The Product Page clearly warns about that. (Read the full post about ‘Music Mug Portable’…)

Holographic Storage – Too Little, Too Late?

Written by admin on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

inPhaseTechnologie’s Tapestry300r can store information on 300GB discs encoded as holograms. Hailed as the next big thing in storage for years, holographic storage did not take off. Of course, there is probably a niche market for these but “cloud storage” based on redundant hard-drives surpasses this level of holographic storage any day in terms of capacity, expandability and even cost per GB.

With a drive priced at 18,000 and $180 for a 300GB disc ($1.66/GB), it is very expensive. But unlike the CD, it seems unlikely that there is enough demand to spur mass production and bring the price down.

Back in late March Apple came under fire from John Lilly, CEO of Mozilla due to a change in its Software Update practices. The issue arose from Apple deciding to check the box for downloading the Safari web browser automatically, meaning unless you spotted it a copy of Safari would be put on your machine.

It seems Apple has taken notice of the criticism and with the latest version of their Software Update (v2.1.0.110) the Safari download option is no longer on by default.

Exhaust Air Jack

Exhaust Air Jack

When you get a flat tire you have a couple of options… you can tackle it like a man and just jack up the car like you should, or you can be a wimp and call recovery to do it for you. For those of you who hate getting on your knees, putting the jack in place and flexing your muscles there is now an alternative option named the Exhaust air jack. The exhaust air jack is a bright orange bag which you throw under the side of your car. Once there, you hook up the pipe to your exhaust and switch on your engine. The exhaust fumes that are pumped out go in to the bag and will jack up the car within 30 seconds. The bag can lift the car 17 inches off the ground which is plenty of space to allow you to get the wheel off. (Read the full post about ‘Exhaust Air Jack’…)

Let’s take to the sea for $1 billion
Instead of getting yourself at the end of a long queue for an air ticket, you have an option that can make traveling on a business trip more than luxurious. The biggies in the Market are gearing up with the idea of super luxury liners that can be adopted by those who can afford them. To start off with we have the 160,000 tonne liner called the Independence of the Seas. It will be arriving in Southampton at the end of this month. There’s also the ever luxurious Royal Caribbean liner that is in line with the biggest liners in the world. And this claim is justified since the crew on the ship serves a total of 100,000 meals a week to a total of 3,600 passengers. (Read the full post about ‘Let’s take to the sea for $1 billion’…)

Thirst Aid for safe drinking water

Traveling to Third World countries might be cheap for those living in the West, considering the much lower standard of living, and the sights and smells are often exotic as well. Unfortunately, all that comes at a price, sometimes safe drinking water is hard to come by, and to rely on bottled water wherever you go is pretty inconvenient. Enter the Thirst Aid Pouch that makes it easy to filter water from just about any source. Our advanced water filtration technology enables the user to get water from just about any source, from drainage ditch and muddy puddle to a standpipe, and be confident that the Thirst Aid pouch will remove it’s contaminants. Eee PC 900 gets dissected, looks about the same as the Eee PC 700
by Joshua Topolsky, posted Apr 20th 2008 at 12:06PM Oh, poor Eee PC 900. You haven’t even made it into most people’s hands, and already you’re getting dissected and inappropriately inspected. Honestly, we didn’t mean for that to rhyme. Regardless, the folks over at bit-tech have gone to all the hassle of cracking the little dude open, though what they find inside is apparently more of the same. No new modules, no fancy layout changes, no tiny army of artificially intelligent lifeforms. Still, it’s nice to look at. WinPwn: iPhone Pwnage Comes To Windows

WinPwn: iPhone Pwnage Comes To Windows
The iPhone Pwnage Tool, a hack which will let you, well, Pwn your iPhone, has arrived on Windows in a beta incarnation called, somewhat inevitably, WinPwn. The original Mac tool has also been updated to v1.1. Pwnage will jailbreak your iPhone, just like other existing hacks, but offers a special bonus. It allows you to load any ipsw file onto your iPhone. An ipsw file is essentially the operating system for the iphone. When iTunes downloads a new version of the iPhone OS and upgrades your Stupendabrick, it is grabbing the official ipsw file. It’s been possible to use iTunes’ built-in restore feature to reload older version of the OS (needed for some Jailbreak solutions), but both Pwnage and Winpwn flash the iPhone with a custom bootloader.
