Track your mail with GPS

Have you ever wondered how your mail gets to it’s destination after you post it, or which is the most inefficient sorting office, you can now find out with the Micro GPA Mail Logger, I kid thee not. The GPS mail logger is half an inch thick and bendable, so can be used in parcels and even envelopes. The GPS Mail Logger records the global position of your mail throughout the delivery process. Once you receive your mail, plug in the GPS Mail Loggers MicroSD card and find out where your mail has been in seconds. With time stamps and recorded downtime you can find out where your mail has been and if it was delayed or misrouted. (Read the full post about ‘Track your mail with GPS’…)

Intel drops Core 2 Quad, Xeon prices by 50%

Intel drops Core 2 Quad, Xeon prices by 50%
Planning on building that new gaming rig? Here’s some good news. Putting pressure on rival chip-maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Intel has surprisingly halved the prices on its Core 2 Quad Q6700 (from $530 to $266) and Quad-Core Xeon X3230 (from $530 to $266). Overall, fourteen processors experienced a price cut, ranging from 12% to 50% off. Other CPUs with slashed prices include the Core 2 Quad Q6600 (from $266 to $244), Core 2 Duo E6850 (from $266 to $183), Dual-Core Xeon 3085 (from $366 to $188), Celeron 560 (from $134 to $107) and more. All prices reflect 1,000 unit shipments. The reason for the discounted prices is Intel’s transition from their 65nm to 45nm process. Ikea laptop “workstation”

Ikea laptop “workstation”
Tight living quarters? Are your cables a conundrum of craziness? Or, do you simply wonder if your pooches or pesky cat might chew through a few precious items while you’re away? We’ve featured a number of cable and phone charger organizers, but this one is perfect for your computer and a few of its precious parts. While I won’t recommend a lot of things from Ikea (for some reason nearly everything I’ve purchased combusted early on – likely a personal problem) I do recommend Ikea’s PS Laptop Workstation. The sorkstation allows you easy access to your modem, router, and cables, while providing you with a small workspace and a place to lock up your laptop (up to 17”) as it charges. Acer, Sprint to release a new laptop with built-in WiMax
Acer is preparing to release a redesigned model of its Aspire 5920 laptop featuring built-in support for WiMax. The Aspire 5920 will be sold through Sprint as well as other companies, and the purchase will be similar to a mobile phone purchase - that is, tied-up with a multiyear agreement. With WiMax, users will be treated with a faster broadband connection speed within a few miles of an access point as compared to the limited range of Wi-Fi hotspots. The 15.4-inch Aspire 5920 is said to be already being manufactured by PC contract maker Quanta Computer. Acer did not provide any further details about the new Aspire 5920 yet, but it will most likely sport the same features as the original Aspire 5920, which include a 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 320GB hard drive, Blu-ray drive and GEForce 8600M GS video. Video: $50 Big Screen Multi-Touch Hack

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

We missed this when it “aired” at the TED conference a month or so back, but when you see the cool hacks Johnny Lee is doing with the WiiMote you’ll see why I’m posting it now. Just look at what cheap consumer electronics can do when they get into the hands of a Carnegie Mellon Ph.D grad student.

The hacks are all based on the tiny infrared camera in the front of the Wii controller, which detects the lights on the bar that sits on your TV. (Read the full post about ‘Video: $50 Big Screen Multi-Touch Hack’…)

BedFan - Keep cool at night

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

BedFan - Keep cool at night
This strange looking device is actually quite neat. It’s called the Bedfan and it’s meant for those of you that are ‘hot’ sleepers and need a bit more airflow around you but perhaps without the noise and space requirements of a floor standing fan. Also, this can be geared specifically for 1 sleeper, particularly useful if you share the bed with your significant other and they don’t want this additional air. The Bedfan runs on just 12V via an AC adapter and pulls in air from under your bed and pushes it where you direct it, perhaps in between your bedsheet and blanket. The speed is adjustable and it can pump out 100 CFM of airflow. The picture below will give you a better idea of how this works. It easily installs without tools. Just place the bracket in between your mattress and box spring. Gimme!More info from the manufacturerPrice: $99.95(Please note prices are subject to change and the listed price is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of posting) via OhGizmo! Verizon to release the blue Palm Centro

Written by admin on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Verizon to release the blue Palm Centro
Based on some recently surfaced images it looks like Verizon will be the latest carrier to offer the widely popular Palm Centro. We have been seeing the blue Palm Centro turn up a few times recently, the first was in those on-line Centro user guides from Palm and based on those most people speculated it would turn up as an unlocked GSM model. That turned out to be untrue as we recently saw Mexican carriers Movistar and Telcel announce its availability. With that it would have been safe to assume that we would not be seeing it land in the US anytime soon, luckily for Verizon customers it looks like they will soon be getting the blue Centro as well. The Centro, while still unannounced is expected to be available soon. (Read the full post about ‘Verizon to release the blue Palm Centro’…)

Panasonic TX-32LZD85 Review
Panasonic is doing a great job this year with it’s new range of LCD HDTVs, and the very well impressive and well priced Panasonic TX-32LZD85 stands out well. The TX-32LZD85 has some more advanced features over Panasonic’s lower end models, such as the high 100Hz refresh rate which cuts down on motion blur and image judder, while increasing image sharpness and detail by adding in extra frames. The Panasonic TX32LZD85 features a full HD 1080p LCD screen with 100Hz, 24p and a Motion Focus system brining you the very best in HD from a blu-ray movie.
