Prototype iControlPad proves itself on video
by Darren Murph, posted May 31st 2008 at 3:11PM Hah, did you really have the nerve to doubt CraigIX? The iphone gamepad add-on that we heard about just last week is already inching closer to reality, and there’s a video to prove it. In the somewhat unexciting clip posted up after the jump, you’ll see a PCB mockup of the device doing its thang, though it’s quite inelegant in its current form. iRiver ‘P.ple P10’ PMP, 4-inch touchscreen
Nope that’s not a portable GPS unit. In fact, its the latest portable media player offering from iRiver, dubbed the P.ple P10. First introduced at CES 2008, the P10 was expected to release Q1 2008, but iRiver was a little late in their delivery. Regardless, the company has now officially launched their ipod Touch rival in two forms: The iRiver P10 Standard ($328) and Pro ($398). Spec-wise, both models sport a 600MHz processor running a stripped down version of Windows CE, 4-inch TFT touch screen, 800×480 pixel resolution, e-book reader, and a 33GB hard drive. RhythmFish concept enables Dory to create trippy visuals
by Darren Murph, posted May 31st 2008 at 11:50AM Wait, you did name your guppy Dory, right? Whatever your household fish is named, you can certainly give it a fresh purpose in life with the RhythmFish — if it were more than a mere concept, of course. The setup surrounds your fish with webcams and monitors its movements via sensors in order to translate all of that data and put forth a visual interpretation. In all honestly, it’s probably just some sort of randomizer hooked up to a Windows 95 screen saver, but a boy can dream, can’t he?[Via OhGizmo]Read PermalinkEmail this8 CommentsFiled under: Misc. Griffin WindowSeat - windshield mount for iPhone & iPod

Written by admin on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Griffin WindowSeat - windshield mount for iPhone & iPod
What good is your iphone or ipod touch if you can’t get to it? WindowSeat gives your device the best seat in the car by mounting handily at eye level on your car’s windshield or dashboard, putting all of your street maps, directions etc. safely in view and easily within reach. Attaches with silicone suction pads and allows easy access to dock connector and headphone jack. When you leave the vehicle, there’s a convenient corner-release which lets you easily detach your device to take it with you, while leaving the mount safely in place. A nice touch is the swiveling ball-and-socket joint which makes it easy to adjust the angle. Conveniently, it can be used in conjunction with Griffin Technology’s PowerJolt charger for iPhone and iPods. (Read the full post about ‘Griffin WindowSeat - windshield mount for iPhone & iPod’…)

Polaroid ZINK printer officially announced and priced
Polaroid has given their ZINK printer a price tag and release date - July 6th at Best Buy and July 20th through Target—both selling it for $149. The pocket-sized product will be marketed as the Poloraid PoGo, which is short for Polaroid-on-the-go. The Polaroid PoGo supports full color printing through cell phones and digital cameras via Bluetooth or USB (PictBridge compatible). The PoGo weighs a measly eight ounces, but don’t let the size fool you. It can print 2×3-inch borderless photos in less than 60 seconds. It’s a shame that Polaroid has quit the instant film market, but if you miss those old school Polaroid cameras, this is as close as you’ll get to sharing your photos instantly. Thanko’s solar-powered DAP urges you outdoors
by Darren Murph, posted May 31st 2008 at 8:38AM So we’ve seen a few solar-powered gizmos (that we wouldn’t touch with a ten twenty foot poll), but Thanko’s own sun-lovin’ DAP actually doesn’t look half bad. The Solar Digital Audio Player, from the front, looks like any other ho hum unit, with a 1.8-inch 220 x 176 resolution display, 4GB of internal storage space and a miniSD expansion slot. Flip ‘er over, and you’ll find a thoughtful kickstand that just so happens to have a solar panel slapped right on, enabling the brilliant, outdoor sunshine to give it a few more minutes of life. There’s no official word on a price or release date, but we wouldn’t bank on it ever coming Stateside, anyway.Read (Read the full post about ‘Thanko’s solar-powered DAP urges you outdoors’…)

USB Tumbler Speaker Spites You With Perfect Balance

USB Tumbler Speaker Spites You With Perfect Balance
Do you remember playing with a toy called the Weeble? They were miniature weighted ovals, which sort of resembled very colorful paperweights. They were a perfect example of mindless fun and totally addicting. No matter how much you tried to wobble the little guys, they would never fall over. Seemingly inspired from the retro toy, the USB Tumbler Speaker from Brando refuses to fall, no matter how many times you attempt to shove it on its side. Thankfully, the novelty of owning a non-tumbling speaker doesn’t sacrifice the audio quality. The USB Tumbler Speaker features an unscrewable extension tube which maximizes the bass for ultra-booming sound. (Read the full post about ‘USB Tumbler Speaker Spites You With Perfect Balance’…)

Audi R8 boasts LEDs aplenty

Written by admin on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Audi R8 boasts LEDs aplenty
Audi has already manged to work some LEDs into a few of its cars (concepts and otherwise), but the automaker has gone all out with its latest Audi R8, which employs LEDs for seemingly every lighting function. That includes the 24-LED running lamps the R8 had before, along with some brand LED high and low beam headlights, and LED turn signals, which add up to some 54 LEDs in all. Of course, given the prices that single LED bulbs demand these days, it should come as no surprise that this is quite the pricey option, with it adding a full €3,590 (or about $5,560) to the R8’s already lofty sticker price.
