The little green men have arrived, and in a stylish CD player to boot. This $12,000 UFO-shaped CD player from China-based Shanling is claiming such an expensive price tag due to the fact that it comes with a quartet of amplification valves, two remote controls, and gold-plated tube legs (I could definitely make do without those for a much cheaper price). Surely with China companies being pretty good in cloning stuff, why can’t somebody come up with a clone of this CD-T300 Pro CD player instead? Try to keep the costs down while you’re at it, ok? While it is official, T-Mobile has activated their 3G service, but as expected from the rumor train, so far it is limited to just New York City. The good news is that the now faster service appears, based on user reports to be for both voice and data. Some are reporting speeds up to 300Kbps or more, a nice improvement coming from EDGE which is 2G and offers an average of 200Kbps. T-Mobile has promised that the 3G service would be rolled out by this summer, but is expected to hit other major cities before the full roll-out. Hey at least some of T-Mobile’s users can now take full advantage of these 3G-capable handsets that they have been buying. Here’s hoping for a smooth, and quick roll-out. May 5 is a very crucial date for AT&T, as the company will begin offering their mobile TV service to 58 markets in the US, which include Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, DC and more. To prepare for this new service, AT&T is also introducing two mobile handsets, the LG Vu and Samsung Access specifically to serve the purpose of providing AT&T customers a great experience when watching TV programs on their mobile phones.
