NEC unloads the new ruggedized ShieldPro FC-N22A tablet PC
As usual, when it comes to getting new computing machines, our friends from Japan are again ahead of all of us. Our Japanese buddies will have the chance to be the first one to get hold, feel and test the spanking new and ruggedly handsome NEC tablet PC, which is appropriately branded as the ShieldPro FC-N22A. From its name alone, you can immediately deduce that this machine was built for the purpose of sustaining the most severe environmental conditions. True enough, the ShieldPro tablet pc can withstand temperature range of -4 F to 122 F, can sustain falling up to about 35-inches without breaking apart, is dust proof and complies to IP55 requirement for being water proof. NEC today updated its ruggedized systems line up with a new tablet pc that can happily bear toughest conditions. The ShieldPRO FC-N22A will be available from today in the Japanese market with Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06GHz) ultra low voltage processor. The 12.1-inch tablet offers a bright widescreen LED display (750 cd/m2), and boasts 12 hours of uninterrupted battery juice. According to NEC, the tablet is IP55 compliant and offers protection against dust and water; it can also be operated under heavy rainfall. NTT DOCOMO and its regional companies announced today that they will begin marketing Prada Phone by LG, a full touch screen mobile phone for the Japanese market, from June. The LG Prada has been redeveloped specifically for DOCOMO. Handset features include an intuitive, full-size touch screen with vibration touch to improve usability. This function activates whenever users touch screen icons to make a call, use e-mail, take and view photos or listen to music. It’s very seldom that we hear about Sony coming out with a flash drive product, although we know that it certainly has some data storage devices in its arsenal but these mostly belong to its proprietary Sony Memory stick duo series which are used for most Sony Ericsson mobile phone’s and the PSP. So, it is refreshing to hear about this new USB flash drive which belongs to Sony’s Microvault product line. The flash drive we’re talking about is the USM-LX high-speed USB flash drive. The USM-LX gives a maximum read-out speed of 31Mb/s which is the USB flash drive standard, is simply fast enough to handle large files - that is store, transfer and share just about anything. Verizon Wireless and Samsung have launched a new phone which features a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch-screen. The phone, called the Samsung Glyde, includes a 2 megapixel camera with flash and is able to support up to 8GB of external memory thanks to its microSD card slot. The phone will also feature stereo Bluetooth support including advanced audio distribution. Besides supporting services such as VZ Navigator, VCAST Music and Video, and instant messaging using AIM, MSN and Yahoo! the Samsung Glyde also includes a music player which supports MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC and AAC+ files.
