Platform Shoes Embedded With Working Gameboys

Written by admin on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Platform Shoes Embedded With Working Gameboys
Most commonly worn by British girl-power pop stars and Japanese transsexual prostitutes, gigantic platform shoes were once on the path to making their way to the mainstream. Normal platforms were big for awhile, but these absolutely gigantic ones were a little too extreme for modern fashion. But nothing is too extreme for us geeks! And that is made abundantly clear with these platform shoes that allow you to embed your Nintendo Gameboy right into the extra-tall lift. These platforms provide you built-in storage for your handheld console, so you can whip out a gaming session anytime, without causing bulk in your pocket. These Gameboy platform shoes have already been scene being worn by Japanese gamer girls. (Read the full post about ‘Platform Shoes Embedded With Working Gameboys’…)

Asus Eee Box specs, pricing leaked
So far we have seen a fair amount of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Eee Box, everything from specs to the rumored EBOX name. Well, the latest seems to be the complete and official specs along with just how much this little desktop PC is going to set you back. The pricing, as one would expect will vary slightly depending on the hard drive and RAM options that you choose. A 80GB hard drive with 1GB of RAM and Linux will run you $269, however adding Windows XP to that will up the price by just $30 to $299. A 160GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM and Linux will also set you back $299, no mention was made of a similar spec’d model with Windows XP. Samsung’s Instinct to require the Sprint Everything plan, with SDK coming
Although we have previously learned that the Samsung Instinct will launch with Sprint on June 20, there has not been any announcement regarding the price, however at a recent live Webinar we were told that it will be “comparable with others in its class.” As far as the plan, the Instinct will require the Sprint Everything pricing plan which starts at $69.99 for 450 minutes and goes up to $99.99 for unlimited minutes. All of the Everything plans include unlimited messaging and data. The reasoning behind this rule is, according to Dan Hesse, the CEO of Sprint they want you to be able to “use your phone for all the great things it can do without worrying about the meter running.” Makes perfect sense to us. SanDisk has just announced its new Extreme III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo that caters for professional photographers and advanced amateurs who want to get serious in their hobby while using Sony’s digital single-lens reflex cameras. This is a collaboration between SanDisk and Sony, being an extension of the existing Memory Stick PRO format that is able to bring unprecedented read and write speeds of 30MB/s for digital cameras and camcorders. The Rail Rider Lets You Cruise The Train Tracks

The Rail Rider Lets You Cruise The Train Tracks
You know those cheap damsel-in-distress movies? Where some fair maiden always manages to get the fringe of her dress stuck on a train track, or manages to get tied down to the rails by an evil gangster? But never fear! The hero of the story is always there to provide rescue at just the last second, scoring kudos from the town, not to mention getting the chick. In real life, the “hero” would almost always be too late to the scene of the crime to do any sort of saving that couldn’t be done with a spatula. If the hero just happens to still live with their parents and not own a car, how are they supposed to get to the tracks on time (especially if their friends are busy). Qualcomm lets the Windows Mobile 7 cat out of the bag along with $299 mini laptop
by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted Jun 2nd 2008 at 12:10PM As if things weren’t confusing enough in the world of tiny computers, Qualcomm went and blurted off news about a $299 machine that will run Windows Mobile 7 on its Snapdragon mobile chip set. Qualcomm’s senior veep Luis Pineda boasted that the machine will run WinMo7 and is more efficient than its competitors from the likes of Intel, AMD, and Via. When pressed, he wouldn’t give up any additional hardware specs, but he promises a “big presence in Snapdragon-based devices at CES 2009″. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen mention of Windows Mobile 7, but it’s quite possibly the first tie-in with a specific product group. 2 x 2 Lego Webcam Adds A Touch Of Brick Geekery

2 x 2 Lego Webcam Adds A Touch Of Brick Geekery
Webcams are becoming an integral part of the online social experience. Users can now have conversations, share video blog entries, and even stream live from anywhere using only a webcam, an internet connection, and a laptop. Most webcams aren’t exactly ascetically pleasing. They all seem to resemble the HAL computer from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey a little to closely. Many people feel intimidated from the style of the big-eye webcam. The 2 x 2 Duplo Lego Webcam from Etsy adds a touch of geeky familiarity which is both pleasing to the eye, and perhaps less intimidating to the shy exhibitionist. The Lego Webcam comes attached to a 50 cm gooseneck cable for easily adjusted perspective, height, and an all-around more efficient webcamming experience. Scientists develop CO2 scrubber device

Scientists develop CO2 scrubber device
As concerns over global warning and the amount of CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere continue to mount; more time is being spent trying to come up with solutions to the problems. Although current thinking is that a reduction in our use of fossil fuels is the only logical way forward, scientists are thinking of new ways to take CO2 out of the atmosphere instead. The latest idea is called a CO2 scrubber, which is a device that can filter the air and remove 1 tonne of CO2 from it every single day. The scrubber is only a concept at the moment, but is small enough to fit inside a typical shipping container. As you can see in the concept drawing below, it acts like a giant filter allowing the air to pass through it and collecting the CO2 as it does so.
