BlackBerry Javelin Spotted
Don’t get all too hot and bothered under the collar just yet - blackberry has yet another smartphone coming out sometime in the middle of next year - nicknamed the Javelin. Unfortunately, you won’t find any 3G connectivity with this handset, although it is rumored to feature WiFi connectivity, GPS navigation, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Do you think a smartphone with such meagre specifications (by the middle of next year, for Pete’s sake) will actually take off? by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 4:09PMThere’s no indication of an exact release date just yet, but word just dropped on the official playstation blog that the PSP will be getting a boost to firmware version 4.00 “soon.” That’ll bring with it the addition of Google search directly form the XMB interface, which Sony says “replicates the Google Internet search experience.” Apart from that somewhat notable upgrade, the only other new feature they’re talking about at the moment is the ability to change the viewing speed during playback of videos stored on a Memory Stick. 3G iPhone going for 1 Euro
Just when you thought $199 was dirt cheap for the 3G iphone (before taking all the monthly costs into consideration), along comes an announcement that T-Mobile Germany will be offering this messianic handset for a low, low price of just 1 Euro! That’s just totally nuts, but if you happen to love O2 and will only use phones from that mobile carrier, you’d be pleased to know O2 is offering it for…yes, you’ve guessed it - free. Just make sure you have at least 89 Euros left in your bank account each month to pay off the monthly plan. Of course, you can always settle for the 169 Euro iPhone as long as you prefer the (much) lower 29 Euro monthly T-Mobile plan. What’s your pick? by Nilay Patel, posted Jun 16th 2008 at 3:20PM NVIDIA’s Tesla GPU-based high-performance computing workstations and add-in cards have been on the market for a whole year now, and to celebrate, they’re getting birthday cake, balloons, and an upgrade to GT200-based chipsets. Like AMD’s recently-announced FireStream 9250, the new T10P processing units are capable of breaking the teraflop barrier, up from the first gen’s paltry 518 GFlops, and they’re up to 240 cores from the first gen’s 128. You’ll have to shell out to get all that horsepower, though: the entry-level, 900GFlops C1060 PCI card will sell for $1699, while the four-GPU 1U S1070 blade will sell for $7995 for two PCIe-interface version or $8295 for the single PCIe connect model. Sony developing motion controller for the PS3?

Written by admin on Monday, June 16th, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

What happens when Nintendo take the novel concept of motion controls and couples it with a games console that has topped the charts since it was released? Competitors like Sony pay them the compliment of copying what they did.

That’s right, Sony are apparently developing a new controller for the playstation 3, which is one unit, but breaks apart to allow a section to sit in each hand. Within each section sits an accelerometer to allow for games to be controlled via motion of the hands.

Sony Computer Entertainment has not officially commented on the existence of such a controller, but it is expected that an announcement will be made at E3 this year.
