If you own a high-def television, you know what I mean when I say that you can’t get enough HD programming. So you can imagine that Dish Network owners will be pleased to hear that the company successfully launched their new EchoStar XI satellite on Wednesday. With the addition of the new sattelite in Earth orbit, this will add to the lineup of HD programming currently offered by the satellite channel provider.
Back in March of this year, Dish Network suffered a setback when the AMC-14 satellite aboard a Russian Proton Breeze-M rocket failed to reach proper orbit, hampering the company’s HD expansion efforts. With the successful launch of the EchoStar XI, however, Dish Network consumers will be getting 17 new HD channels thus bringing the total number of HD channels offered by Dish Network to 100. Not to be outdone, however, Dish Network’s competition, DirecTV, is claiming that they will have over 150 HD channels by the end of the year.
