Nihon windowpanes feature built-in photovoltaic cells
by Darren Murph, posted Jul 23rd 2008 at 10:10AM Think your house is green? Think again. Japan’s own Nihon Telecommunication System has just revealed a line of windowpanes that actually include integrated photovoltaic cells. The windows are aimed at the (ritzy) residential housing market, and folks that snag a few will reportedly be able to power a PC and recharge their cellphones simply by tapping into the energy generated by these units. Additionally, the glass is designed to shun most of the sunlight from coming into your abode, thereby lowering air conditioning costs and satisfying your needs as an introvert. So, what’s the pain for helping out Mother Earth? (Read the full post about ‘Nihon windowpanes feature built-in photovoltaic cells’…)

Review: MSI Wind Notebook

Review: MSI Wind Notebook
The netbook–a small inexpensive notebook–has been around for months now, but we are still seeing significant progress in the products that are coming out. New manufacturers are entering the market, some of which are able to distinguish themselves against well established products like the Eee PC and HP’s Mini-Note 2133. Some off the new offerings are inevitably me-too products, but others are worth getting excited about. This second group just might be enough to pull in people who have so far been resisting the urge to pick up one of these secondary systems. MSI’s Wind is a 10-inch netbook, designed to compete with the Asus Eee PC 901/1000/1000h as well as any number of similar products that are now available. Cute mushroom mini cleaners almost make cleaning fun
Okay, I did say almost. For most of us, it’s going to take a little more than a cartoonishly-bright mini fungus to ever make cleaning fun, but I’m glad that manufacturers Brando made the effort anyway. Their battery-powered Mushroom Desk Mini Cleaner is designed to distinguish dust and can also be used as a lint remover for the lazy. Or it could just sit on your desk and look cute… It comes in red, orange, green or purple and costs just $12. Via Shiny Shiny. Verizon Wireless has a lot to celebrate after announcing net customer additions of 1.5 million for the second quarter. The numbers puts the current Verizon Wireless subscriber roll at 68.7 million which includes 66.7 million retail customers. The numbers gave the company confidence in claiming that U.S. customers use the Verizon Wireless more than any other wireless brand.

The company’s financial and operational results are expected to be announced as a part of its quarterly consolidated results. Verizon Wireless states that it has “the most reliable” coast-to-coast wireless voice and data network in addition to the largest 3G wireless broadband network.

Sony Ericsson’s W595 manages to make an impact!

Sony Ericsson’s W595 manages to make an impact!
For once I am really proud of Sony Ericsson to come up with a phone as good as W595. The best part they have done something different in terms of colour if not much where shape is concerned. But atleast they started. The blue colour is a welcomed change and the phone does manage to make a statement. It helps you find and buy songs via TrackID™. The included 2GB memory card stores up to 1900 tracks, so you are never getting bored, even on a Monday morning. My most favourite feature would be the shake control. Change your tune, pump up the volume - and do it the easy way. With Shake control all you gotta do is flick your wrist. Thumbs up W595. We will keep you posted on its price and availability. Number port stats suggest curious trends in iPhone 3G launch
by Chris Ziegler, posted Jul 22nd 2008 at 1:54PMSure, Apple alleges to have flipped over a million iPhone 3Gs at this point, but what does that mean? The devil’s in the details, as always; yes, true, the first one took 74 days to reach that same milestone, but it was available in less than one-twentieth the number of countries and an even smaller fraction of carriers. Hell, the very definition of “sale” is under scrutiny here, with some suggesting that Apple’s making reference to the number of phones it’s sold to its carrier partners, not end users — a metric that would make sense from Cupertino’s perspective since Apple’s payday technically ends there.
