The Ghetto Blaster Tote features working speakers
Here’s more vintage technology making its way into fashion and novelty gadgets.  This Ghetto Blaster Tote featuring a painfully 80s look will actually play your music.  Those speakers that look painted onto the bag will emit sound once hooked up to your mp3 player.  So you can relive the days of boomboxes and still remain semi-fashionable.  However, please don’t go as far as sporting the MC Hammer haircut and pants.  No one wants to see that again. Casio Baby-G: Not Quite There, But Quite Serviceable
Remember two years ago, when I was searching for the perfect watch? You don’t? Then check it out here: gadgets Page » I Hate the Watch Designers of the World I was looking for a watch that did the following: Women’s watch Digital Metal case and band Time and Date on the display at the same time Stopwatch Countdown Timer Light I would also like Dual Time, but I’m willing to give that up The latest iteration of the Casio Baby-G doesn’t quite fit all my qualifications, but it’s very close. It is technically a women’s watch, even though it’s pretty large. You can see it takes up most of my wrist here: It is digital and displays the time and date on the face of the watch. Developers beware - IE8 Beta 2 has major restrictions
Developers looking to upgrade to the latest beta release of Internet Explorer 8 need to heed a warning from Microsoft. Depending on your system setup, installing IE8 Beta 2 may mean you can’t uninstall and go back to earlier versions of the browser. The problems seem to relate specifically to those who have already installed Beta 1. If you have, and are running Windows XP, you need to uninstall Beta 1 and Service Pack 3 before installing Beta 2 and Service Pack 3 again. Vista users also need to follow a set number of steps if they wish to uninstall Beta 2 that involves searching for installed updates rather than just clicking an uninstall button.. Google unveils Chrome web browser

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

It has come as a surprise to most people that Google have announced a new open source web browser project called Chrome.

The search giant did not intend to unveil the browser so early, but somehow the e-mail got sent out early and their hand was forced. The actual introduction to the browser has been signified via a comic book.

The comic talks about how current browsers were developed before the explosion of functionality we use them for today. It suggests a web browser needs to be more stable, faster, secure, clean, simple, efficient and also just as important – open source.

The Castlight Candlestick Holder Flashlight

The Castlight Candlestick Holder Flashlight
Power outages do happen from time to time and having a flashlight around to run off to fix a fuse is nice.  Plus with this device you could even do it scary movie style and just light a candle instead of turning on the flashlight.  It also solves one other obnoxious issue.  The issue of where to put away the flashlight so it’s not out cluttering up your home, but you still won’t lose it.  I have a set of four flashlights that I bought and I swear they’ve all managed to disappear.  It started that I put them all over the house and then I sort of lost track of them after that.  This candle holder is  attractive enough it could stay out in the open at all times. Gamer Glasses to soothe player’s eyes
If you stare at a computer for long hours each day, then you know the feeling of eye fatigue. It’s that dry, weary feeling that makes you wish you could take out your eyes and soak them in cool water for a while. Gamers who enjoy long hours in their favorite online game or first-person shooter also experience this eye fatigue. One company, however, is working to create gamer glasses that will help ease weary eyes and keep gamers sharp. Gunnar Optiks is that company and already has glasses created for computer users that help minimise eye fatigue by reducing glare and improving focus. This same technology is apparently being brought to gamers as the company has plans to create a gaming line of specs. (Read the full post about ‘Gamer Glasses to soothe player’s eyes’…)

Photos of the HTC Dream running Android
Engadget found a bunch of photos of the upcoming HTC Dream running the Google-supported Android Mobile OS on a Chinese forum, and the bottom line is that this phone is real and coming to T-Mobile in relatively short order. The RED DSLR: A Wish List

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

The RED DSLR: A Wish List
RED Camera’s Jim Jannard has hinted at a new still camera that could do to the DSLR market what the RED ONE movie camera is doing to the movie industry. At RED, Jannard has shown that he can pretty much ignore the industry paradigm and start from scratch: The RED cameras use sensors and file formats developed in house, and they are widely regarded to be better than those of bigger companies. The semi-announcement (it came from a forum posting by Jannard) says that we can expect some kind of camera “aimed squarely at the DSLR market.” But what can we expect? The ONE showed us that RED is ready to shake things up, so here we put together a wish list of features for a brand new kind of digital camera, a camera designed for photographers rather then the fickle needs of the marketing department. Plantronics releases GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in Gadgets and Devices.

Plantronics has recently introduced the GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset that brings virtual 5.1 surround sound effects to both ears. While purists might argue that it is travesty to attempt virtual 5.1 surround sound effects through a pair of headphones as it won’t sound as good as the real thing, many people are willing to settle for less. Just take a look at the MP3 format - it surely loses out to CD quality, but then again MP3 is a real tour de force that looks set to stay on for many years since it is deemed ‘good enough’ by the masses.
